Iran-Turkmenistan Review Expanding Transportation Co-op

Gorgan, July 14, IRNA – The fourth Iran-Turkmenistan joint meeting on transportation, customs affairs and border issues was held between the two sidesˈ officials on Saturday. Deputy Chairman for Golestan province Transportation and Terminals Organization Abolfazl Safari said on Saturday that Iran has four joint border terminals with Turkmenistan at Inche boron, Bajgiran, Lotfabad and Sarachs. The meeting between the two sidesˈ officials was held to review issues pertaining to customs formalities, transportation, transit of cargo by trucks as well as implementation of agreements already signed by the two countries. Since about 100 to 120 trucks daily commute between the two countries joint borders, the aim of the meeting was to enhance border cooperation and facilitate transportation and transit of goods through these terminals, he said. The two sides also studied grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation and removal of existing hurdles to this end. It was agreed that the next session be held in Turkmenistan./end
