Iran, Turkmenistan Share Views On Different Issues: Majlis Speaker

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA – Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said Sunday that Iran and Turkmenistan share views on different issues which can positively affect development of the two countries. Upon his arrival in Tehran after his four-day visit to Turkmenistan, Larijani told reporters that during his meeting with Turkmenistan’s president, the two had discussed issues of mutual interest such as those pertaining to energy and gas. Larijani was accompanied by the oil minister, Khorasan Razavi governor general and officials from Trade Ministry and Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in his visit. He called for implementation of agreements reached between the two neighboring countries during his stay in Turkmenistan. The two sides discussed technical and engineering cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat and export of Iranian goods to Turkmenistan due to be finalized by a joint committee, he said. He said that exchange of prisoners was another issue the two sides talked about and reached an agreement to be signed and implemented by justice ministries of the two countries. Expansion of parliamentary cooperation was also stressed by the two sides, Larijani said. Larijani reiterated that removal of visa requirement between Iran and Turkmenistan enables both sides to explore new marketplace in third countries, adding that Foreign Ministry is to prepare the ground in this regard./end
