Iran works on linking national grid to Russia & SCO members

Tehran, IRNA – Iran's Deputy Energy Minister for International Affairs Mohammad-Ali Farahnakian, said here on Sunday that Iran is working on a project to connect its national grid with Russia through the eastern side of the Caspian Sea (Turkmenistan). Farahnakian said in an exclusive interview with IRNA that Iran is working on a plan to connect its national grid to Russia and other SCO member states through a transmission line passing through Turkmenistan. He added that this plan makes it possible to exchange electricity among the SCO (Shanghai Organization) member countries, and this plan was agreed in the Second Caspian Economic Forum. The adviser and Deputy Energy Minister for International Affairs said: The former Soviet member countries can be connected with each other in terms of power grid connection, and it is only necessary to establish the third line Iran's power grid with Turkmenistan, the second line of which had already been activated.
