Iran's Saffron Exports To Fetch $400m

Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA – Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad Nasser Tavakoli said on Sunday that saffron exports are expected to earn the country $400 million. Tavakoli told IRNA that the revenue will come from export of 135 tons of saffron. He said Iran stands top worldwide in terms of production of 92 percent of the world's saffron. He added that since March 20 about 55 tons of saffron have been exported. He noted that last year, 122 tons of saffron, valued at $366 million were exported, showing increases of 13 and 10 percent in terms of weight and value respectively compared to the same period the previous year./end
