Iran's Sulfur Production In Full Capacity

Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA – Sulfur production is in full capacity at Shahid Hasheminejad (Khangiran) unit in Sarakhs, Khorasan Razavi province after overhaul of Sulfur Recovery Unit. Head of the Mechanic Repair Department at Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company Seyed Reza Seyedan said that the overhaul project has risen the production to 100 percent of the capacity from the former 50 percent. Seyedan said the condenser serves as a thermal convertor to turn sulfur vapors to melting sulfur. He added that sulfur production capacity of Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company stands at 2,600 tons a day while the actual production is 2,000 tons. "The refinery produced 139,150 tons of sulfur during the first quarter of the current year," Hassani said, adding the volume has grown by 6% compared with the figure for the corresponding period last year. Hassani said that liquid gas production of the company rose from 24,615 tons in first quarter of last year to 32,838 tons in the first quarter of current year. Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refinery is fed by gas reserves located in Khangiran near Sarakhs city, 165 kilometers east of Mashhad, capital of Khorasan Razavi province. The facility supplies gas to six provinces and produces variety of products including naphtha, kerosene, diesel and raw gasoline. Shahid Hasheminejad Refinery has refined 3.2 Bcm of natural gas in the first quarter of current Iranian year (March - July), up by 8% compared with the figure for similar period of last year. Managing Director of Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company, Masoud Hassani, said that total gas intake of the refinery, whether sour or sweet, amounts to 57 Mcm/d. Once the development projects go operational, the gas sweetening capacity of the refinery will increase by 10 Mcm/d to reach 67 Mcm, he said./end
