Iraqi Demand For Iranian Goods, High

Abadan, Aug 20, IRNA – Iranian consul-general in Basra on Monday hailed the Iranian goods high quality, saying that Iranian commodities are currently in high demand in Iraq. Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the panel discussion about Iranian exports to Iraq, Hamid Reza Mokhtasabadi said, The Iraqi officials and people always ask us why the Iranian goods are not supplied sufficiently to the Iraqi southern provinces in particular. Khuzestan province can play a crucial role in the two countries economic ties and can have the final say in exports to Basra province, he said, noting that the level of Khuzestan-Basra trade is not satisfactory. Today, Basra as the economic capital to Iraq has created a huge capacity for Khuzestan and Iranian merchants can seize the opportunity and supply their goods to the Iraqi markets, Mokhtasabadi said. He further noted that numerous commonalities between Basra and Khuzestan province of Iran paves the way for the businesspersons to enter the Iraqi markets. Underlining Iraqi southern provinces basic needs for investment in the oil and gas, housing, bridge and road construction, environment services for disposal of industrial wastes and waste-water treatment, he called for steady efforts to have an effective presence in the Iraqi markets and not concede the market to rivals from other countries./end
