Iraqi official: Most export goods arrive in Iraq via Shahid Rajaei Port

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov., Nov 16, IRNA – Head of the Association of Exporters and Importers of Iraqi Kurdistan pointed to the significant position of Bandar Shahid Rajaei in Bandar Abbas and said most of the commodities of his region arrive from this port. Sheikh Mostafa, speaking at a session of the investors and tradesmen of Afghanistan and Iraq’s Kurdistan with Hormuzgan transportation officials said: “On this basis we are seeking broader cooperation in order to prevent any delay in transportation of commodities from Shahid Rajaei port.” He expressed satisfaction over support of Iranian economic and political officials in solving problems of Iraqi tradesmen and said: “We are interested in forming a joint commercial delegation with Hormuzgan transportation sector through which we can have stronger bonds.” Mostafa further remarked that on this basis the Association of Exporters and Importers of Iraqi Kurdistan has signed a cooperation protocol with Bandar Abbas Chamber of Commerce. Meanwhile, Mohammad Ali Asl Saeedipour, a deputy at Hormuzgan Ports and Navigation Organization pointed to the key position of Bandar Shahid Rajaei in Iran’s economy and said over 60% of the entire trade reloading and loading of the country is carried out in this province of which 55% is done at Shahid Rajaei Port. “We expect traders in the neighboring countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan to consider Bandar Shahid Rajaei their own national port,” he said, adding that ports and navigation officials of Hormuzgan are prepared to offer best services in order to meet their satisfaction. He called for the stationing of a permanent representative on behalf of tradesmen of both Iraq and Afghanistan in Bandar Abbas for the development of activities and further coordination.
