Jafza's trade with Netherlands reaches US$732 million

DUBAI, 4th May, 2016 (WAM) -- The number of Dutch companies represented in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Jafza, has grown steadily over the past few years, up to 105 companies in 2016, while Jafza's trade with the Netherlands has seen continuous growth, exceeding more than US$732 million in 2015. Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, Jafza Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his delight at seeing many Dutch companies in Jafza, which began with a small office and now has become one of the major companies in the Free Zone. This came when Al Janahi met with Robert de Leo, Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and his accompanying delegation, at the headquarters of Jebel Ali Free Zone, in order to strengthen trade ties between the two sides. Al Janahi welcomed the Dutch delegation and gave a brief outline of the history of Jebel Ali Free Zone and the methodology followed in attracting Foreign Direct Investment, FDI. He added that Jafza seeks to attract 12 of the top 40 companies for the manufacture of food and beverages in the world based in the Netherlands or for research and development institutions affiliated to them. The trade in machinery, electronics and equipment between Jafza and the Netherlands reached US$ 224 million, while the trade in chemicals and related industries reached US$117 million. Cars, aircraft and transport trade reached US$90 million and ready-made food US$68 million, while plastic and metal products reached US$64 million. Al Janahi agreed with the Consul-General to develop an action plan for the promotion of trade, and to brief the Dutch business community on the available commercial opportunities in the UAE's market in general and the Jebel Ali Free Zone in particular.
