Jakarta Composite Index Up 0.73 Percent

Jakarta, Aug 11 (Antara) - Jakarta composite index (JCI) opened 0.73 percent higher on Monday morning on positive domestic and external sentiments. The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 37.01 points to 5,090.77 points and index of 45 most liquid stocks gained 1.08 percent to 871.18 points. "The JCI followed the regional trend and rupiah strengthening," Samuel Sekuritas` analyst Aiza said. Aiza said Asian index opened stronger on Monday morning led by Nikkei that gained 1.4 percent on subsided conflicts in Ukraine. Meanwhile, rupiah regained some of its losses opening at the level of 11,718 per US dollar strengthening from the previous level of 11,778 per dollar. Analysts said market players are awaiting announcement of data about Indonesian current account balance to be released this week. "If the data fell short of market expectation the implication is not good for the share price index," he said. Regional markets such as Hang Seng, Nikkei and Straits Times all recorded an increase in index.
