Jakarta Index Up Slightly On Tuesday

Jakarta, Aug 7 (ANTARA) - The composite share price index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose slightly in the opening trade on Tuesday to follow the global trend. The index rose 5.07 points or 0.12 percent to 4,110.57 points with the index of 45 most liquid stock gaining 0.18 percent to 705.04. "Asian markets including BEI moved sideways in opening trade this morning but tended to rise to follow global trend," Samuel Sekuritas analyst Christine Salim said. Christine said European and US markets rose last night though slightly giving positive sentiments with support from the German government for ECB`s program to buy bonds from secondary market. She said negative sentiment came from Japan`s central bank which was said to be reluctant to provide monetary stimulus. She said a number of stocks such as banking, consumer goods and automotive stocks are under profit taking pressure that would cause price fall. "Minimum new positive sentiments caused the US market to move sideways last night," she said. Sinarmas Sekuritas analyst Jeff Tan said technically, the BEI index moved mixed around 4,050-4,150 points . Jeff said anticipation of economic data to be released including Britain`s industrial production data , Germany`s factory order data and Italy`s GDP data would give positive sentiments to the BEI index. He said a number of stocks are noteworthy in today`s trading including United Tractor (UNTR), Semen Gresik (SMGR), Indosat (ISAT), and Sampoerna Agro (SGRO).
