Japan interested in six Thai industries with potential

BANGKOK, Nov 14 (TNA) -- Japan is keen on investing in six Thai industries while the Thai government is trying to promote Thai-Japanese partnerships at the level of small and medium-sized enterprises, according to Thai ambassador to Japan Sihasak Phuangketkeow. During the government's meeting with Thai ambassadors and consuls-general on economic promotion at the Foreign Ministry on Nov 13, Mr Sihasak said that the government wanted proactive diplomatic efforts to support economic development and that Japan was interested in the six industries of Thailand concerning electronic parts, automobiles, digital economy, foods, clean petrochemical businesses and medical services. The ambassador said that Thailand was well prepared in the six industries and was ready to cooperate with Japan in the fields. The Thai embassy in Japan was feeding information about Thai SMEs to Japan in order to respond to Japan's policy to support its own SMEs' investment in other countries. The embassy also invited Japan to encourage its SMEs to invest in the six Thai industries, Mr Sihasak said. Regarding the meeting of key government figures with Thai ambassadors and consuls-general in 96 countries, Mr Sihasak said the government ordered the diplomats to develop confidence among foreigners in Thai politics and economy and to present Thailand's intention to be a gateway to Southeast Asia.
