Japan to keep on cooperation with Thailand in all areas

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - Japan has confirmed to maintain cooperation with Thailand in all areas. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information, told journalists on Thursday that Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Shigekazu Sato made the confirmation during his meeting with Thai Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow in Bangkok earlier in the day. Sek quoted the Japanese top envoy as saying that Tokyo is willing to continue working together with Thailand, as both countries have developed bilateral relations and mutual interest for a long time, especially in the economic area. The Japanese ambassador also confirmed that Japanese investors remain confident in Thailand. According to spokesman, Sihasak briefed the Japanese top envoy on Thailand's updated situation and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)'s roadmap on promoting national reconciliation to pave the way for a fresh general election. Besides, the Japanese ambassador was also briefed that the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) is considering promotional privileges for foreign investors, which also benefit Japanese investors who form the largest group of foreign investors in Thailand. The Japanese top envoy was also assured that Japanese tourists can now visit Thailand as usual, as the NCPO has already relaxed its restrictions, stating that people's freedom and liberty in the Thai Kingdom are about to return to normal.
