Japan M3 Money Stock Up 3.0 Pct in July

Tokyo, Aug. 9 (Jiji Press)--Japan's M3 money stock in July grew 3.0 pct from a year before, the Bank of Japan said Friday. The average daily balance of M3 stood at 1,160.5 trillion yen in the month, the BOJ said. The M3 gauge covers cash in circulation, demand and time deposits at all deposit-taking institutions, and certificates of deposit. The balance of M1, a narrower measure covering cash and demand deposits, stood at 562.9 trillion yen, up 5.2 pct. The broadest liquidity measure, which includes investment trust funds and government securities in addition to the items in M3, came to 1,511.2 trillion yen, up 3.4 pct. END
