JETRO to continue to invest in Thailand

BANGKOK, Jan 26 (TNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong said that the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) has affirmed that it will continue its investments in Thailand, while advising the country to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. The Deputy Premier told the pressed after meeting with President of JETRO Bangkok Hiroki Mitsumata, earlier today, during the Japanese president reaffirmed that Japan gives great importance to Thailand and would continue to invest in the country in all aspects. However, he has asked the Thai government to improve the documentation filing process, to facilitate better convenience to Japanese business owners by increasing officials who are efficient in the Japanese language. ACM Prajin further noted that the JETRO has also invited Thailand to become a member of the TPP, despite the fact that newly elected US President Donald Trump had pulled the United States out of the membership. He said the JETRO president has expressed that Japan would continue on with the TPP agreement, though he has not yet given an answer to whether or not Thailand would join in with the project, as the government is still in the process of studying it.
