JETRO sees no serious bombing impacts on Japanese investment in Thailand

BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) - A recent survey has found that last week's bombing in Bangkok has no serious impacts on Japanese investment in Thailand. Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Chairman Masayasu Hosumi told journalists on Wednesday that the Japanese Chamber of Commerce (JCC) has sent questionnaires to 1,640 members who run businesses in Thailand, after the bombing at Bangkok's Ratchaprasong Intersection on August 17, and 40 per cent of them responded, saying that the bomb blast has had no serious impacts on their investment in Thailand. Hosumi noted that 90 per cent of the respondents indicated the bombing has had no impacts on their businesses in the Thai economy, but 10 per cent of them felt no serious impacts and they have not implemented any special measure in the wake of the bombing. Hosumi revealed that the respondents only saw some safety impacts on meetings and meals outside their offices, but they have decided to run their businesses in Thailand as usual. Meanwhile, a business matching event between 50 Thai business operators and Japanese restaurateurs happened as planned in Bangkok on August 25. (TNA)
