JMM To Find Opportunities To Promote Islamic Products In Lanzhou

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), April 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysian non-governmental organisation (NGO), Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM), in cooperation with the Mayor of Chinese city of Lanzhou, Niu Xiang Dong, aim to find opportunities to promote Islamic products in the city. Niu and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Hamzah Zainuddin here today and one of the issues discussed was the efforts to help Bumiputera businessmen. In a statement Monday, JMM President, Hamzah Azwanddin, said the meeting discussed opportunities to help entrepreneurs expand in the city's free trade zone in the next five years. "We are also coming up with a comprehensive plan and are proposing to establish a Kuala Lumpur-Lanzhou Business Council in Malaysia which would benefit the local companies, as well as provide them with clear and efficient information," he said. Azwanddin said that the parties had also discussed about the government agencies' role in developing and improving halal product exports to Lanzhou, which would also help in the nation's economy during the meeting. "This collaboration is a follow-up to Prime Minister Najib Razak's call to foster good relationship with China, not only between two governments but also among NGOs," he said. JMM is a specially-appointed NGO by the ASEAN representative for the Lanzhou Halal Hub (China). --BERNAMA
