KADIN DISCUSSES COOPERATION WITH CROATIA

Jakarta, June 29 (Antara) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) recently met Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic to discuss economic cooperation between the two nations. During the meeting with the Croatian president, the Kadin delegation was led by its General Chairman Suryo Bambang Sulisto. According to a press release made available to Antara here on Sunday, during the meeting, the Croatian president highlighted several cooperation opportunities between the two countries. The Croatian president pointed out several geographical locations that could serve as entry points for Indonesian goods into the European Union. Among the locations, Kitarovic mentioned Croatian port cities such as Rijeka, Split, Zadar, and Ploce. "As the youngest state in the European Union, Croatia enjoys a strategic geographical location in the Adriatic Sea that provides easy access to Italy, Hungary, Austria, and other big states in the European Union," President Kitarovic affirmed. In an effort to increase Indonesia's exports to East European countries, Kadin will renew its cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy. It will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and cooperate with several business associations in Croatia, according to Kadin Chairman Sulisto. "Besides exploring opportunities in export cooperation, we also met Croatian Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sinisa Doncic to discuss the possibility of Croatia supporting Indonesia's sea toll program owing to the fact that it is also an island country comprising one thousand islands in Southern Europe and the Adriatic Sea," Sulisto stated. The Kadin chairman also met Croatian Armed Forces Commander General Darko Lovric to discuss strategic industrial cooperation in the Indonesian-Croatian defense industry sector. "This is important because Croatia is a member of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)," Sulisto noted.
