Khuzestan exports 3.5bln KWs of electricity to Iraq in 7 months

Ahwaz, Nov 17, IRNA – Managing Director of Khuzestan Province Electricity Co. Mahmoud Janqorban said here Saturday that Iran had by October 22 exported 3 billion and 500 million kilowatts of electricity to Iraq. “That amount of electricity was transferred to Iraq from the beginning of the (Iranian) year (1393 – began on March 21, 2014) till the end of the 7th (Iranian) month (October 22, 2014) through two 400-kilowatt electricity lines,” he told IRNA. He added that Khuzestan province electricity exports to Iraq increased 35% in those seven months compared to the similar period of the previous year, which was totally 2.7 billion kilowatts. Janqorban said that the total production of the province’s thermal, gas, and hydro electricity power generators till October 22, 2014 was 21 billion and 685 million kilowatts, compared with last year’s 19.719 billion KWs, showing a 10% increase.
