KL Converge: Fujitsu Keen To Share Early Flood Detection Technology With Asean

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Japan-based Fujitsu Ltd is keen to share its expertise in early flood detection technology with Asean countries in order to combat catastrophic flooding, which the region is prone to. The total solution system installed in flood-prone areas will immediately transfer early warning signals and data to operation centres via cloud computing, triggering relevant authorities and agencies to take quick and effective measures. Kyoko Okutani, Associate of Global Business Management Unit at Fujitsu Ltd, said Fujitsu has received an overwhelming response for the early flood detection technology from many Asean countries that had been experiencing devastating floods almost annually. "We have been approached by government representatives and companies from Malaysia and other countries, and have received about 50 enquiries from various organisations," she told Bernama at the Japan Pavilion at KL Converge here Thursday. Fujitsu is exhibiting the flood alert technology at the Japan pavilion at KL Converge where eight companies are exhibiting their products ranging from safety related products to mobile applications. Commenting on KL Converge 2014 which ends Friday, Kyoko said it is a good platform for exhibitors to showcase their products, create opportunities and explore collaborations. "I am impressed with Malaysia's ability in promoting the creative industry at the regional level, and we hope to see a bigger crowd at the next KL Converge," she said. KL Converge, a multi-platform digital content and creative industry conference and exhibition is jointly organised by the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and the National Film Development Corporation. It is premised on the convergence of communications, broadcasting, digital technology and creative content like films, animation, music, and drama. --BERNAMA
