KL To Host Malaysia-Taiwan Ecommerce And Cloud Summit

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The Internet Alliance (IA), which represents the collective voice of Internet-based Businesses in Malaysia, will host the Malaysia-Taiwan Ecommerce and Cloud Summit (MaTECS) here on Oct 8. Held in alliance with the Taiwan Internet and E-Commerce Association (TIEA) and the Institute for Information Industry (III), the event is aimed at strengthening bonds between the Malaysian and Taiwanese e-commerce and cloud hosting industry. MaTECS will also be an ideal platform for start-ups, entrepreneurs, small medium enterprises (SMEs) to meet and exchange insights, challenges, experiences and more in e-commerce and cloud hosting. IA president Lee Cheung Loong said in a statement that e-commerce had grown exponentially in the last few years. "We are seeing more companies starting or looking to invest in Malaysia. This is why IA is focusing this year's event on e-commerce and cloud hosting as better dialogue is needed amongst local entrepreneurs," he added. Based on a recent report by Paypal Malaysia, Malaysia's e-commerce market is set to grow to US$1.04 billion (RM3.43 billion, US$1 = RM3.28) by 2015. Meanwhile, participants at MaTECS will benefit from knowledge sharing by prominent speakers from both Taiwan and Malaysia, and give Malaysian SMEs in particular, a better idea of the robust nature of the industry. --BERNAMA
