KLMCC And Iran's Khuzestan Counterpart Set US$13.72 Billion Trade Target Within A Year

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce (KLMCC) and its counterpart from the Khuzestan province of Iran, Khuzestan Industrial Estate Company, have set a trade target of US$13.72 billion (RM60 billion) within a year. KLMCC President Sharifuddin Musa said the amount was realistic based on high demand for Malaysian goods in Iran. "The number is a rough estimate. Our products, mostly cosmetics, herbal products, fragrances, halal products and semi-processed food are in high demand in the province," he told the media after signing a memorandum understanding between KLMCC and Khuzestan Industrial Estate Company here Monday. KLMCC also held a meeting with a Khuzestan business delegation made up of 40 representatives from various sectors, including food and textile. Sharifuddin said 50 Malaysian companies, who were members of the KLMCC, would participate in the bilateral trade and their products would be displayed on the shelves of supermarkets in Khuzestan. KLMCC has 3,600 members while Khuzestan Industrial Estate Company, 250. "For Khuzestan, they are keen to capitalise on Malaysians' craze for carpets, perfumes and herbal-based products," he said. --BERNAMA
