Larijani Calls For Implementation Of Gas Transfer Project To Oman

Tehran, April 15, IRNA – Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, referring to the good Iran-Oman political ties, called for implementation of gas transfer project to Oman. Oman Speaker of Majlis al-Shura Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasir al-Mawaly is in Tehran heading a senior parliamentary delegation. During the meeting on Saturday, Larijani expressed hope for expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries in different fields. Larijani called the visit of Omani delegation to Iran important, adding that the visit will accelerate expansion of parliamentary cooperation and will open a new outlook in this concern. He said that the two nations have many historical commonalities and wise stances of Oman in sensitive and complicated developments in the region in recent years have been an element to strengthen mutual ties. Majlis speaker, by referring to the world arrogant powersˈ efforts to widen gap between Islamic schools of thought said that differences are not in principles and Iranˈs policy is to strengthen unity and brotherhood among Islamic countries. Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasir al-Mawaly said Iran is a big country with old history and a high political weight in the world and regional developments. Oman gives great importance to political and economic cooperation with Iran. Referring to Iranˈs stances on Palestine issue and defending rights of the innocent people of this occupied territory, al-Mawaly said that Iranˈs stances to defend Palestinians is an honor for Islamic Umma, so Omani government and nation have great respect for Islamic Republic of Iran. He also welcomed increasing volume of economic exchanges, especially Iranˈs gas transfer to Oman. Omani senior official, who is to stay here for 5 days, is scheduled to meet with president Ahmadinejad, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili as well as Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi./end
