Larijani Confers With S.Korean Speaker, Calls For Enhanced Economic Ties

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA – Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani held talks, here on Sunday, with South Korean Speaker of National Assembly Kang Chang-heesaid on ways to enhance level of economic cooperation. Larijani said that the current level of Iran-S.Korean economic cooperation fall short of excellent diplomatic relations. Speaking to domestic and foreign reporters, Larijani said ties between both countries are deeply-rooted in economic and cultural fields. Level of trade between both sides was satisfactory in the past several years, but, in recent years it underwent some fluctuations, he said. Larijani expressed the hope that the current visit of South Korean parliamentary delegation would mark a turning point to broaden mutual relations and cooperation. Both speakers discussed expansion of parliamentary- economic cooperation, easing red tapes as well as cultural and academic cooperation between the two countries. Iran and South Korea are determined to remove existing hurdles, he said. South Korean parliament speaker leading a 21-member delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday. During their three-day stay, the South Korean delegation is scheduled to visit Fars and Isfahan provinces. Majlis speaker leading Iranian parliamentary group is scheduled to visit South Korea in the next few months./end
