Larijani: Iran Ready To Construct Oil Refinery In Congo

Tehran, March 9, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to construct oil refinery in Congo. Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Congolese parliament vice-speaker. Expansion of parliamentary ties helps broaden economic relations between the two nations, Larijani said adding that Iran is willing to broaden friendship and parliamentary relations with Congo. Larijani thanked the common stands with Iran adopted by the Congo government at International forums. The active presence of Congo foreign minister at Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the visit of the parliament speaker to Tehran indicate the extensive ties between the two countries and that parliamentary relations can leave positive impacts on broadening economic cooperation. Iran is ready to render services in agriculture, engineering as well as oil industry to Congo, Larijani said adding that Iran can help construct oil and petrochemical refineries in the country. Iran and Congo also can broaden cooperation in mining and construction of bridges, he said. Iran is ready to cooperate with Congo in health sector and set tup branch of Iran Red Crescent Society in Congo, Larijani said. There are other areas for cooperation such as legislation, diplomacy, technical and vocational training as well as enhancing the level of trade between the two countries, Larijani said. The Congolese parliament vice-speaker extended an invitation to Iranian parliamentary delegation to visit Congo. The Congolese parliament vice-speaker called for expansion of mutual cooperation in various sectors. He expressed the hope to witness exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries to help expand mutual cooperation. Congo is willing to make use of Iranˈs experiences in legislative sector, he said. He thanked Iranˈs active presence in Congoˈs trade fairs.
