Legal Barriers For Gasoline Quality Control Still In Place

Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA – Head of Iran National Standard Organization Nayereh Pirouzbakht told reporters on Tuesday that legal barriers for quality control of domestically produced and imported gasoline by the organization are still existing and if these barriers are removed the Standard Organization is ready to control quality of gasoline. She said based on the 1391 (2012-2013) Budget Bill where it has been explicitly stated that supervision over domestically produced and imported gasoline is the responsibility of the Oil Ministry the National Standard Organization has been prevented from controlling the consumed gasoline. Pirouzbakht further remarked that all the reports of the Standard Organization with respect to the gasoline distributed throughout the country have been forwarded to the Article 90 Commission of the Majlis for taking the final decision. Stressing that the legal discussion over gasoline should be radically solved, the official said several approvals are existing in the country with regard to gasoline control all of which have disregarded approvals of the High Standard Council. However, she added, in addition to the implementation of compulsory standards, quality control of produced commodities is being followed seriously. Pirouzbakht referred to the formation of quality evaluation deputyship at the organization and said the office is in line with supporting the consumer rights, promoting quality of the commodities produced domestically and safeguarding the borders for preventing entry of low quality goods./end
