KOTA BAHARU, (Kelantan, Malaysia) April 27 (Bernama) -- The National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (LKTN) is seeking to export the commercial plant fibre, kenaf to Turkey. Its director-general Samsudin Noor (right) said several companies there had expressed interest in buying kenaf for the carpet industry which is in high demand in Turkey. "Based on this latest development, LKTN will increase its production of Kenaf to 3,000 hectares nationwide compared to 2,000 hectares last year. This includes an addition of 40 hectares in Kelantan this year, namely in Kok Lanas and Tanah Merah. "There are 600 hectares of land in Kelantan under kenaf now compared to 560 hectares last year," he told reporters after visiting a Kenaf Products Promotion Programme at a supermarket here, Sunday.
