MAIA To Collaborate With Philippines Counterpart

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) – The Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Aerospace Industries Association of The Philippines (AiAP), focussing on aerospace industry development. In a statement, Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (MATRADE) said, under the MOU, signed at the Defence Services Asia 2018 here today, both associations would collaborate to develop aerospace capabilities and business opportunities between Malaysia and Philippines. “The MOU will focus on human capital development, research and technology as well as exchange of information on business environment and international trade issues. “The signing of the MOU is part of MAIA’s effort to secure a footprint in the regional original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supply chain growth,” it said. MATRADE said the various OEM internationalisation strategies had caused supply chains to pivot towards the high-growth regions such as Asia-Pacific. “MAIA aims to position Malaysia as a capable and competitive manufacturing, maintenance, repair and operations and services base able to supplement and integrate with the Philippines’ and regional aerospace sectors,” it said. MATRADE, which is Malaysia’s national trade promotion agency, is instrumental in facilitating the collaboration between MAIA and AiAP. -- BERNAMA
