Malaysia: French Energy Company Engie Group Launches Expanded DCS Facilities At Cyberjaya

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- French energy company, ENGIE Group, has launched the expanded facilities of its Megajana District Cooling System (DCS) to supply round-the-clock chilled water for air conditioning to the Cyberjaya township's data centres, malls and office towers. Cyberjaya is a town with a science park as the core that forms a key part of the Multimedia Super Corridor in Malaysia, located in the district of Sepang, Selangor. The facilities are in partnership with Cyberview Sdn Bhd's subsidiary, Pendinginan Megajana Sdn Bhd. ENGIE Group Executive Vice-President Didier Holleaux said with this new 2,000 refrigeration ton (RT) electrical chiller and 20,000 refrigeration ton per hour (RTh) thermal energy storage, Megajana's energy efficiency will improve by five per cent. "Our partnership with Pendinginan Megajana to expand Megajana's district cooling network will help promote Cyberjaya as a model for a sustainable green township," he added, in a statement Wednesday. He said the expansion also raises the existing two district cooling plants to a total installed capacity of 14,000 RT chillers and 95,500 RTh of thermal storage. It will distribute over 3.8 million RTh of chilled water monthly to its 48 building customers through a 12km underground network, he added. -- BERNAMA
