SINGAPORE, March 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will have a significant presence at the inaugural Halal Congress in Cardoba, Spain, from March 24-26 with the participation of at least five high-profile speakers. The event is to promote the Halal lifestyle as a global concept and a positive value that Muslims provide to society. Isabel Romero, President of the Spanish Islam Authority (Junta Islámica) and chief executive officer of Instituto Halal (Spanish Halal Institute), the Congress promoter, said Malaysia had over the last decade, stood out as a country with the largest investments in human resources, training and marketing on the Halal concept. "Several experts from the university and specialised professional schools will be present at the conferences, which is an unique opportunity to achieve agreements between the Instituto Halal, the University of Córdoba and local institutions regarding the training of professional experts in production, food and Islamic finance", she added, in a statement here. Through different panels such as International Standardisation of Halal Market, Halal Tourism and Preferred Destination, Halal Food or Banking and Islamic Finance, speakers from all around the world will analyse the current situation in the Halal industry. The Malaysian speakers are Saim Kayadibi, deputy director of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Sharifudin Md.
