Malaysia, Thailand to jointly develop border trade

SUNGAI GOLOK, THAILAND, April 18 (TNA) - Malaysia and Thailand plan to jointly develop border trade along their common border in Su-ngai Golok District of Narathiwat Province in the southernmost Thai region. The plan was raised on Monday when Malaysian Minister Of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Hamzah bin Zainudin visited a business area in Su-ngai Golok, where he was welcomed by Narathiwat's Deputy Governor Thakerngsak Yoksiri, Su-ngai Golok District Chief Preecha Nuannoi and local security officers. During his trip, also aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between both neighbouring countries, the Malaysian minister expressed his special interest in Thai agricultural products, namely rice, fruits and vegetables, as well as household goods. The Malaysian minister said he is confident in Thailand's security measures and believes in more concrete cross-border trade between both sides in the future. (TNA)
