Malaysia Wants To Share Experience On Effective Policies, Programmes - Minister Husni

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is willing to share its expertise with other countries to rebalance the world between developing and developed countries, for the common benefit of mankind. Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said this was following Malaysia's effectiveness in implementing its strategies and programmes due to an efficient team in developing and mapping out the plans. "Malaysia has a five-year plan, whereas many countries only have year-by-year planning. "More significantly, Malaysia is planning beyond 2020. "With the success implementation of all government policies and upliftment of income level, the government was able to rationalise its subsidy by introducing the Managed Float Fuel Pricing Mechanism," he said in a statement released here, Monday. He said this in conjunction with the IMF-World Bank Annual Spring Meetings held from April 15-17 in Washington DC, United States (US). Ahmad Husni led a Malaysian delegation to the meeting, in which he participated as a panel speaker in a seminar on Energy Subsidy Reform. The seminar was sponsored by the World Bank's Nordic Executive Director Office and co-hosted by the US and Friends of Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform group of countries comprising Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland and Ethiopia, among others. Ahmad Husni also expressed hope for further collaboration with the World Bank, especially on taking Malaysia beyond the 2020 vision, to compete successfully with other high-income countries. "Malaysia is also ready and willing to share its experience in the policies and development programmes implemented that has almost eradicated poverty," he said. --BERNAMA
