Malaysian And Japanese Companies Team Up To Produce Animation Series

From Mohamed Letfee Ahmad TOKYO, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- A multimedia super corridor (MSC) status company, Creatvtoon Studios Sdn Bhd (Creatvtoon) and renowned Japanese content provider P.I.C.S. Co Ltd (P.I.C.S.) have teamed up to cooperate towards producing an animation series. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed here by P.I.C.S president/chief executive officer Shinichiro Nakaso and the founder/director of Creatvtoon, Ayie Ibrahim. Speaking at the event, Shinichiro said the cooperation is aimed at bringing together the expertise of both companies to produce creative content that will use storylines from Malaysia and Japan. "I hope this cooperation will be the foundation for Creatvtoon, as a Malaysian animation producer, to expand its market to the international stage" Ayie in turn told Bernama. Creatvtoon, a 2D animation company established by him in 2010, is involved in the areas of animation, creative content and training. The company has previously won awards, including for Best 2D Animation and Best Animation Director, at the Malaysian Animation Awards 2011. Its latest venture is the animation series Zerohero, which will debut next year. P.I.C.S., originally a department under MTV Japan, became a free entity in 2000 with its active involvement in the production of commercials for film and television, music videos, web films, video concerts,television dramas and feature films. The company is now part of film producer, Imagica Robot Holdings, which also produces creative content for production houses in Iskandar Malaysia of east Malaysian state, Johor. The cooperation between P.I.C.S. and Creatvtoon is the result of the initiative by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), under its Malaysian Creative Industry Policy. "This cooperation is in line with the aspirations of the government to assist Malaysian companies in producing high quality creative content based on the Creative Industry Policy," said Kamil Othman, vice president, creative multimedia, MDeC, who was present at the signing of the MoU. --BERNAMA
