Malaysian Animation Producer Forges Cooperation With Japanese Toy Firm

From Mohd Letfee Ahmad TOKYO, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Animonsta Studios Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian producer of animation series BoBoiBoy, has forged a collaboration with Japan's premier toy manufacturer, Tomy Company Ltd, to produce an animation series based on toy vehicle character manufactured by the company. According to Animonsta managing director, Nizam Razak, the company would come out with the story line and produced the series while Tomy would produce the toy vehicle product range. Besides that, Animosta is also discussing with Tomy to produce a product range based on its new animation series, Galaksi BoBoiBoy, which is a rebranding of the BoBoiBoy series. "The new series will focus on adventure theme and will consist of 104 episodes," said Nizam here after the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Tomy, which was represented by its president and chief executive officer Kantaro Tomiyama. Also present at the event which was held at Tomy's headquarters here were Kamil Othman, vice president, Creative Multimedia of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and MDeC senior manager Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib. Speaking to Bernama, Kantaro said the company was the biggest producer of toys in Japan and he was willing to invest to ensure the success of the project as he wanted to see creative work in Animonsta. "I hope that the combination of young talents in Animonsta and the skill of Tomy to produce the toys will help boost the creative industry of the two countries," he said. Tomy, which started as a toy plane maker, named Tomiyama Toy Seisakusho, was founded by Eiichiro Tomiyama in 1924. Animonsta Studios is also a provider of creative content and animation at the Multimedia Super Corridor. --BERNAMA
