Malaysian businessmen for more trade with Iran in post-JCPOA

Kuala Lumpur, Nov 21, IRNA – Head of Malaysia International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Datuk Wira Jalilah Baba said that Malaysian businessmen want to have more trade exchanges with Iran in post-JCPOA era. Addressing Iran-Malaysia Trade Opportunities Meeting, Jalilah Baba said on Monday that required guidelines on developing ties with Iran have been given to MICCI's subsidiary companies and MICCI is ready to lead Malaysian investors. The event, attended by Malaysian industrialists, was held by MICCI. The secretary of Iran-Malaysia 1st Investment and Trade Opportunities Exhibition Mohammad Hafez Hakami presented a report on Iran's economic conditions in post-sanction era and invited Malaysian investors to invest and transfer technology, saying that today is the best possible time to develop trelations between the two countries since Iran has been enjoying continuous growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since 2014. While expounding on Iran's position to help access to markets in North Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, Hakami said that 13,000-km of railroad in Iran and free zones in north and south of the country are special opportunities for Malaysian exporters. At the end of the event, Iran ASEAN Business Council (IABC) and MICCI signed an MoU. The value of Iran-Malaysia bilateral trade was $532m in 2015 and both countries have decided to increase it to $1b. 1378/IRNA
