Malaysian Company Keen On Operating Industrial Area In Riau

Pekanbaru, Riau, Feb 6 (Antara) - The Malaysian-based company, PT Petro Gold, has shown interest in becoming the operator in the Tanjung Buton Industrial Area (KITB) in Siak Regency, Riau Province. In addition to PT Petro Gold, the National Gas Company (PGN) and Joint Operating Entity, Bumi Siak Pusako (BOB-BSP), are also interested in operating the KITB," stated Regent of Siak Syamsuar at a press release received in Pekanbaru, on Thurday. Syamsuar pointed out that the PGN officials also visited the location and evaluated the prospects of becoming an operator in the industrial area. "But, the Petro Gold officials were the first to visit the location," he added. The KITB is an industrial development center and potential port in the growth triangle incorporating Singapore, the state of Johor in Malaysia, and the province of Riau. "The area has been considered a gold mine in terms of its ability to encourage economic growth, contribute positively to the regional income, create jobs and businesses in the future, in addition to the oil and gas sector," he noted. To meet the electricity needs of the KITB, Syamsuar explained that a South Korean investor was ready to invest in energy and coal briquettes. "The KITB Siak was built to boost the economic condition of the region and is expected to have a positive impact on the national economy," he claimed. In addition to the KITB, there is also the Industrial Area of Dumai in the region, which has led to the economic development of the Dumai City.
