Malaysian Firms Generate US$47.68 Million Sales At MEDICA 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian medical industry's participation in the recent MEDICA 2014 exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany, generated sales of US$47.68 million (RM159.66 million). In a statement, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) said the Malaysian-made medical products was well received at the event which was held for four days from Nov 12, 2014. Eleven medical and services companies participated at the event, coordinated by Matrade for the third time. Among the medical devices promoted were medical disposables, hospital beds and furniture, surgical and examination gloves. It also included prefilled humidifier, disinfectant and liquids for body and hand hygiene as well as circumcision clamp and bowel aid. "Out of these items, medical disposables garnered the most interest from international buyers. "This indicates a worldwide trend for medical disposables especially when there is growing emphasis on contamination control and awareness on consumer liability," Matrade, the national trade promotion agency said. A total of 105 business meetings were held between Malaysian companies and foreign buyers at the exhibition. --BERNAMA
