Malaysian Firms Rake In US$9.56 Million Sales At HK Gift & Premium Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysian companies raked in US$9.56 million (RM34.29 million) in total sales, an increase of almost 222 per cent from US$2.97 million (RM10.66 million) last year, at the recent Hong Kong Trade Development Corporation's Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair. The 10 participating Malaysian companies which included Greenyield Industries (M) Sdn Bhd and Nubex Sdn Bhd were housed under the Malaysian Pavilion, coordinated by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade). The event, held from April 27-30, is Asia's leading gifts and premium show and one of the largest in the world. This year's edition brought together over 4,200 exhibitors from more than 38 countries featruing 13 national pavilions. Most of the participants received strong interest from international buyers, particularly from China, ASEAN, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Argentina, the United States and Canada, said Matrade in a statement here. Among the products showcased at the event were plastic and acrylic articles, trophies, plaques and souvenir items, art stone plant pots, various bags and travel goods, silver and gold bars and coins, bags with customised painting and gardening gloves. More than 13,000 trade buyers from 75 countries attended the exhibition during the four-day show. Matrade believes the participation of Malaysian companies at the event helps to raise the visibility of Malaysian gifts products in the international market. (US$1 = RM3.58) --BERNAMA
