Malaysian Minister Lauds Sophistication of Proton's New X70 SUV

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister Darell Leiking on Thursday visited Proton headquarters and was given an exclusive preview of the new Proton X70 sport utility vehicle (SUV) at its test track in Shah Alam of Selangor state. During his visit, Darell was given a briefing about the new Proton SUV before proceeding to test drive the car. Darell also was the first cabinet minister to have the privilege to test drive the latest edition in Proton's inventory. Also present at the visit were Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd Dr Li Chunrong and Deputy CEO Radzaif Mohamed, as well as other senior management members of the company. In a statement Thursday, the minister lauded the sophistication of the SUV which incorporates modern interactive features including safety aspect enhancement such as front and side radar, and voice-activated command. The Proton X70 made its first appearance at an exclusive preview session for the media. This has been followed by a series of customer preview events, organised to create hype for the new SUV, spanning seven Malaysian cities running from Sept 19 to Nov 4. The official launch of the X70 will then follow shortly after the conclusion of the previews. Response to the model has been promising, having received some 5,000 bookings within a week of being made available to the public. -- BERNAMA
