Malaysian Ringgit Ends Slightly Lower Against US Dollar

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian ringgit closed slightly lower against the US dollar Thursday, in line with the bearish performances of most regional currencies, as the weakness in the euro bolstered demand for the greenback. At 6 pm, the local unit stood at 4.4190/4220 against the greenback compared with Wednesday's 4.4170/4210. A dealer said the market remained clouded with uncertainty over the outlook of US fiscal policies such as President Donald Trump's tax reforms and expectations of further interest rate increases by the Federal Reserve. Against other major currencies, the local note was traded mixed. It fell against the Singapore dollar to 3.1677/1703 from 3.1665/1705 yesterday and declined against the British pound to 5.4959/5014 from 5.4908/4966 on Wednesday. The ringgit rose against the euro to 4.7442/7488 from 4.7659/7716 yesterday and edged higher against the yen to 3.9732/9763 from 3.9778/9822 on Wednesday. -- BERNAMA
