Malaysian Ringgit Higher Against US Dollar In Early Session

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Bernama)-- The Malaysian ringgit rose against the US dollar in early session Tuesday on fresh buying interest for the domestic unit, said a dealer. As of 9.15am, the domestic unit was higher at 3.8970/9040 against the greenback from Monday's close at 3.9230/9290. The dealer said buying sentiment for the local currency improved as oil prices pared its earlier losses on fading impact from oil producers' failure to freeze oil production during the Doha summit on Sunday. Global benchmark, Brent crude, eased 0.53 per cent to US$42.87 per barrel on Tuesday, compared to seven per cent losses on Monday. Meanwhile, the ringgit was mostly higher versus other major currencies. The domestic note declined against the British pound at 5.5727/5843 from 5.5648/5741 on Monday and appreciated against the euro at 4.4095/4189 from 4.4338/4417 on Monday. It was higher against the Singapore dollar at 2.8867/8927 from Monday's 2.8931/8992 and increased against the yen at 3.5703/5771 from 3.6173/6242. --BERNAMA
