Malaysia's Matrade Promoting Trade In South Sulawesi

MAKASSAR (Indonesia), Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is intensifying trade promotions in South Sulawesi in the quest to seek more opportunities for Malaysian entrepreneurs. MATRADE ASEAN Unit Director Raja Badrulnizam Raja Kamalzaman Matrade said the Port of Pare Pare in Makassar was a vital border trade area between Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines. "Much of the trade is concentrated at the port which is near the border of Tawau, Sabah. "Due to Makassar's strategic position, Matrade will take every opportunity to expand trade promotions for Malaysian entrepreneurs. "We will propose to the government to increase air and sea logistics between Malaysia and Sulawesi to boost bilateral business ties," Raja Badrulnizam told reporters here Saturday. He said MATRADE brought 35 Malaysian companies to participate in the third Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit and the 9th Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Trade Expo, Conference and Business Matching 2016 here. The three-day event, which began yesterday, showcases businesses and products from the small and medium enterprise sector. -- BERNAMA
