Manado Port To Have New Quay

Manado, N Sulawesi, Aug 26 (Antara) - The transport ministry has contributed Rp12.6 billion to financing the construction of a third quay for the Manado seaport of North Sulawesi. Construction of the new quay has to be completed this year to better facilitate sea transport via the Manado port, Transport Minister EE Mangindaan said here on Tuesday. Mangindaan acknowledged there was difficulty regarding the finance for the project in the center over the slashing of budget, but the condition has been normal again. He said the preparation toward construction has even been underway, adding currently it is in the process of auction. "With fund available construction of the new quay is expected to be completed this year," he said. He said the Manado port is designed to facilitate transport of passengers and tourists not for cargo transport. "Tourist destination here , in addition to the Bunaken undersea park is the Sangihe, Sitaro and Talud islands," he said.
