Maros Sefcovic: Azerbaijan may become major supplier of gas to EU

Baku, October 9, AZERTAC “One of the major long-term projects to supply gas to the European Union is a Southern Gas Corridor,” foreign media quoted the Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Energy Maros Sefcovic as saying. He forecasts the EU's annual gas demand to be between 380 and 450 billion cubic meters in 2030, which is comparable to the present demands of EU. According to Sefcovic, the Southern Gas Corridor is the main project which is designed to bring gas from Azerbaijan to the European Union before 2020. "In addition, we are cooperating with Norway and Algeria. We are preparing a new strategy for liquefied natural gas," he added.
