Matrix Concepts To Venture Into Healthcare Business

SEREMBAN (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), March 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysian property developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd (MCHB) is set to diversify into healthcare business following the proposed joint venture with Taiwan's Changhua Christian Group (CCH) to build a private specialist hospital in Bandar Sri Sendayan. MCHB founder and group managing director Lee Tian Hock said the group chose CCH as its strategic partner to leverage the latter's extensive experience in healthcare market with 33 branches in Taiwan, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. "We hope we can seal the agreement in the next four months. "Upon its conclusion, a joint venture company, with CCH holding the majority shares, will be set up," he told reporters after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Proposed Specialist Centre, here Wednesday. The MoU was signed by Lee on behalf MCHB, while CCH was represented by its Managing Director Superintendent, Dr Kuo Shou Jue. It was witnessed by MCHB Chairman Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin. Lee said the hospital would serve not only the local market but also the Southeast Asian market. It is expected to be built on a 4.047-hectare site within the central commercial hub in the township and would take two-and-a-half years to complete. CCH, established in 1896 in central Taiwan, has about 6,800 members and 3,600 beds, providing full range of specialty departments with specialists in medicine, nursing, medical technology and management. Meanwhile in a filing to Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia's Stock Exchange) on Wednesday, MCHB said MCHB said the MoU with CCH shall take effect from Wednesday for a period of six months, with the option to extend its validity to a further six months, subject to a mutual agreement. The proposed hospital would be known as Matrix Global Specialist Centre (MGSC). The MGSC, if established, shall be the first hospital to incorporate state-of-art development in Bandar Sri Sendayan (in Malaysia's Negeri Sembilan state), catering to a population of 30,000 with a future target of more than 120,000 by 2022. Bandar Sri Sendayan is a fast rising township with residential, commercial, industrial, an international school, and the Royal Malaysian Air Force new training and academic centre. --BERNAMA
