MCOT, TISTR to jointly promote Thailand's research products

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), a most established Thai media firm, and the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), under the newly-established Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, have agreed to work together to promote publicly and boost the market demand for innovative research products that have been developed from the latter's laboratory. MCOT President Khematat Paladej and TISTR Governor Chutima Eamchotchawalit signed the agreement at the MCOT head office in Bangkok on June 18, aimed to also help boost revenues of relevant business firms and the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in the long run. The TISTR governor stated that her institute is in charge of conducting research, adopting modern technologies and developing innovations, along with testing and certifying the quality of Thailand-made products at the national level. Besides, TISTR has provided the counselling service to business operators in the Thai economy to help enhance their industrial competitiveness through their more value-added products in order to boost the country's GDP eventually. The TISTR governor acknowledged that her institute has developed a business network and cooperation with many public and private firms and MCOT, with the company's potential and well-established facilities, has now become a TISTR business partner in the media sphere to help widely publicize science, technologies and innovations, as well as to promote and create the market demand for Thailand-made innovative products produced by business operators at all scales in the country. The MCOT president then said that the MCOT-TISTR agreed cooperation comprises of four areas, including publicizing research products, developed by the TISTR laboratory, to people in the Thai society, creating the proper awareness and understanding among the public on the significance and usefulness of the adoption of science for the further upgrade of their quality of life, supporting business operators at all scales in the country to produce useful, innovative and more value-added products and promoting the expanding sale of Thailand-made value-added products that meet international standards and help sustain the national economic growth. The MCOT president mentioned that MCOT has not only well-experiences in producing information content, but also many media channels to become "market places" for the research products, developed by the TISTR laboratory and produced by business operators in the country, including those in the cosmetic, farm processing, health and environmentally-friendly production sectors. According to the MCOT president, MCOT has followed the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) strategy on working together with several public agencies, including the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) to develop the Thai digital content and platform industry, the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD) to launch the National Knowledge Center (NKC), the Thai Media Fund, under the Ministry of Culture, to counter fake news reports and the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME D Bank) to implement the SME D Digital Market Place Project for local SMEs to sell their products on digital platforms through the modern electric commerce (e-commerce) system.
