MDPS Releases Machinery and Equipment Price Index for First Half 2016

Doha, July 13 (QNA) - The Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) has released the Machinery & Equipment Price Index (MEPI) for the First Half /2016, which reached 101.4 points which decrease by 0.78% when compared to both of the second half of the year 2015, and of the counterpart of the previous year 2015, according to an MPDS press release. The MEPI is the new indicator which added to the current products of indicators produced by the Ministry. This indicator calculated semi- annual, With Base Year 2012. An analysis on H-o-H basis of MEPI First half, 2016 against second half, 2015 shows that All of the main groups were decreased namely: "Special-purpose machines" group by 1.16%, because of the price decreased in the Underground rock cutters and tunneling machinery, "Office, Accounting and Computing machinery" group by 0.88%, "Transport equipment" group by 0.77%, due to a price drop in Motor vehicles and trailer vehicles. Slight decline in "Machinery and electrical appliances" group by 0.19%. A comparison of the MEPI of First Half, 2016 with the First half, 2015, noticed that MEPI decrease by 0.78% affected by price decrease, namely: "Special-purpose machines" and "Transport equipment" by 0.97 % each, "Office, Accounting and Computing machinery" by 0.88%. On the other hand decline noticed in "Machinery and Electrical Appliances" by 0.19%. (QNA)
