Media's role in highlighting family, women and children's issues discussed

Baku, July 20, AZERTAC A conference entitled "Highlighting family, women and children's issues in the media: achievements and prospects" co-organized by State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and Azerbaijan Press Council has been held at the International Press Center, Baku. The conference which was attended by state and government officials, scientists, cultural figures and journalists heard speeches about the role of the media in implementing family, women and children policy in Azerbaijan. Addressing the event, chairperson of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova highlighted “the great and glorious” path of development of the Azerbaijan's national press whose history spanned 141 years. Other speakers included deputy head of the Presidential Administration's department for socio-political affairs Vugar Aliyev, executive director of the State Fund for Support of Mass Media under the Azerbaijani President Vugar Safarli, Deputy Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Sona Valiyeva, chairman of Azerbaijan Press council, MP Aflatun Amashov, AZERTAC's editor-in-chief Yashar Guluzade. The event then featured a ceremony to award a group of journalists for their professional coverage of the family, women and children's issues in the media.
