Medvedev endorses Russia-Guatemala agreement on mutual protection of investments

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has endorsed an agreement between the Russian and Guatemalan governments on encouraging mutual protection of investments and decreed to refer a relevant bill to the Russian State Duma lower parliament house for ratification, the Russian government said on its official website on Thursday. The agreement drafted by the Russian foreign ministry and the ministry of economic development provides for granting most favoured treatment regime to investors. “To ensure better protection of investments already made or planned to be made in the immediate future, the bilateral agreement will be applicable to investments made not from the moment of its coming to forces but after January 1, 1992,” the government said. Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alexei Likhachev was appointed official representative of the government at hearing on the agreement at both houses of the Russian parliament. Read more
