MEET ICT Conference/BITEX Exhibition date set

Manama, July 25 (BNA): Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) and "WORKSMART" for Events Management have announced the programme of the "MEET ICT" conference and BITEX exhibition that will be held on February 7-9, 2017 under the patronage of the Transport and Communications Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed . BTECH Board Chairman Ubaydly Al Ubaydly said that the Bahrain-based "Arab Union for Arab Societies of IT companies" would hold its regular meeting on the sidelines of MEET ICT Conference, to discuss expanding its membership that currently includes five countries, namely Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan and Bahrain. He added that the cognitive club managers of information technology departments in Bahrain (CIO Knowledge Club), comprising executives and managers of CIOs and IT departments from ministries, institutions, organisations, and companies from the public and private sectors, would hold also a session for its affiliates on the sidelines of the conference. The session aims to provide a vast window for the CIO Knowledge Club members, and inform them about the latest developments in the information and communication technology (ICT) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the region and the world, explore the development horizons of the ICT sector in the kingdom and ways to increase its market share in the countries of the region and discuss the main developments and challenges facing them and their organisations regarding ICT issues, Al Ubaydly also said. He pointed out that the excellence awards of MEET ICT and BITEX 2017 would cover many categories in many fields, such as mobile phone applications, economy and trade, cloud computing enterprises, health care, social responsibility, as well as the ICT Personality of the Year. On his part, Worksmart CEO, Ahmed Al Hujairi, the CEO of Worksmart which is organising "MEET ICT" and BITEX in partnership with BTECH, affirmed that a number of specialised delegations comprising representatives of public sectors, companies and ICT associations in the region and across the world would visit the conference and exhibition. The MEET ICT Conference will also feature face-to-face meetings between ICT services’ suppliers and providers to explore the evolving needs of such a vital sector and optimally meet them, Al-Hajiri added.
