Mellanox Technologies To Expand Presence In Malaysia's Digital Economy

KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 (Bernama) -- Mellanox Technologies, a US-based company, aims to complement Malaysia's digital economy initiatives by investing in the areas of human resources, infrastructure and customer education. Vice President and General Manager Asia Pacific Japan, Charlie Foo said the company wants be a part of Malaysia in providing 10, 25, 40, 50 and 100 gigabytes interconnect solutions that serve today's and future needs. "Organisations can concentrate on running their business instead of concentrating on technological demand," he told reporters after announcing the the company's expansion plan possibilities in Malaysia, here Wednesday. Mellanox Technologies supplies end-to-end Ethernet & InfiniBand intelligent interconnect solutions and services for servers, storage and hyper-converged infrastructure system. Its open ethernet switch delivers performance and port density with a complete chassis and fabric management solutions, allowing the convergence of data centres to operate at any scale, while reducing operational costs and infrastructure complexity. Without disclosing investment numbers, Foo noted that the company also plans to invest in a test unit to educate customers on its solutions and at the same time, bring technical expertise into the country to share knowledge. He said the company is optimistic over growth opportunities in Malaysia as organisations embark on their journey towards digital transformation, improving customer centricity and building elastic cloud infrastructure. "As organisations evolve alongside this digital transformation, so too will demand from technology, and this requires the ability to move growing amounts of data faster and gain data insights in real time," he added. Foo said Mellanox Technologies is actively seeking partnerships and collaboration opportunities to support customers from different industries, primarily within big data, data centres and the cloud. Mellanox Technologies has partnered some server companies at present as original equipment manufacturers (OEM) including Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Lenovo. It was reported that come 2020, the Malaysian digital economy is expected to contribute 20 per cent to the gross domestic product from 16.8 per cent currently. --BERNAMA
